dear crossovering author

Dear [community profile] crossovering author,

First of all, thank you so much for writing for me! Fics that combine two or more fandoms in some way are among my favourite things to read/write, so I'm pretty excited for this exchange. Please keep in mind that I intend for this letter to be guidelines/suggestions, not demands. Please, do not feel restricted by my prompts. If an idea grabs you, run with it! I don't want writing for me to be stressful, plus there are millions of crossover ideas floating out there that I would love to read, but would never think to prompt. Whatever you end up writing, have fun!

I've split this letter into three sections: (1) general likes and DNWs, (2) fandom-specific likes and DNWs, and (3) crossover prompts.

General Likes/DNWs
Likes:
-- I love gen relationships. Friendships of all flavours (e.g. Lifelong best friends, belligerent/reluctant friendships, and everything in between), family dynamics of all kinds, etc.
-- I really love certain ships (which I'll expand on in the next section), but as a general rule my fic preferences lean heavily towards gen.
-- Hurt/comfort, in both romantic and platonic relationships.
-- I love backstory, present day, and fics set after canon ends. All are good!
-- I love fics that explore individual characters, the kind of person they are, etc. Especially if it's in a crossover-esque scenario and their world is different to their canon one.
-- I love worldbuilding/a focus on the setting. If, for example, you matched on two canons that are very different, a fic that focuses on how the two worlds overlap/interact/fuse/etc could be really cool.
-- I love both crossovers and fusions, I'm not at all fussy about which you want to write.
-- I love all sorts of tone. I love fics that are creepy/unsettling, fics that are depressing/angsty, fics that are wacky and goofy, fics that are fun-filled adventure, fics that are terrifying adventure, etc...
-- I would be perfectly happy with >2 canons making an appearance in the fic you write (I've just written prompts for 2 fandoms at a time because it's easier).
-- Plot driven fic and character driven fic are equally good.
-- I'm 100% fine with violence (especially if the canon/story calls for it!), as long as gore isn't described in excessive detail. Canon-level violence is a good benchmark.
-- Character death is fine, especially in the Hunger Games universe.

DNWs:
-- Explicit sex. I'm fine with sex happening, but stick to a level of detail that matches the canon you're writing.
-- Excessive gore. Like I said above, canon-level violence = totally fine. (E.g. references to torture in a Hunger Games setting is fine, but I'd rather not be walked through the detail of the torture step-by-step.)

Fandom-specific Likes/DNWs
Lost:
Likes: Um, I love basically everything about this show. I love the history of the Island, and who its inhabitants were/what they were up to in various time periods (including Hurley after the finale), as well as what was happening off-island (Widmore, the freighter, etc). I love the mythology around the Island. I love the characters and their various backstories and arcs. My favourite characters are Sawyer, Juliet, Zach & Emma, Richard Alpert... I'm actually blanking on continuing this list, because I would be happy to read about basically anyone. The ship I am most emotionally invested in is Sawyer/Juliet, but I also love Desmond/Penny, Hurley/Libby, and Rose/Bernard. I also love Kate and Cassidy's friendship, and Juliet and Rachel's sibling dynamics.
DNWs: Focus on Jack/Kate. (Background Jack/Kate is fine [especially if you're writing about the Oceanic 6 era], focussing on them as individual characters is also fine).

Harry Potter:
Likes: I love the world of Harry Potter as a whole, how everything works/fits together, and random detail about spells/magical creatures/etc. I love all the things that reflect who you are as a person: I love sorting, but it's more than that: there's also your patronus form, your wand wood & core, what the Mirror of Erised shows you, and so on. I'm not particularly invested in any ships, but I have a soft spot for Ron/Hermione. I love fic that explores the family dynamics of muggleborns, and what life back home is like for them. I love world building about the HP-verse outside the UK. I love Luna, the Weasley family, Hermione, post-series (or late-series) Dudley, the Hogwarts staff, and minor character POV.
DNWs: Next generation (i.e. fic that focuses on characters like Albus Severus, Victoire, etc), Harry/Snape, Hermione/Snape.

White Collar:
Likes: I love many, many things about this show. I love that it's so fun and ridiculous, while also managing to be genuinely moving. My favourite characters are most of them ;) Peter, Elizabeth, Neal, Mozzie, Diana, Jones, June, and Sara. Ship-wise, I love Peter/Elizabeth (it bums me out how hard it is to find Peter/Elizabeth fic), and Neal/Sara. I love Peter and Neal's friendship, Elizabeth and Mozzie's friendship, and Neal and Mozzie's friendship. I also love it when Peter and Mozzie have to work together, and whatever you would call the relationship between Neal and Diana, and Neal and Jones (it's not quite friendship, but it's somewhere in that vague friendship spectrum). I love when Peter's team all works together, and when they bring in other characters to help them out (like Sara or El or Moz).
DNWs: Peter/Neal, Peter/Neal/Elizabeth, Kate Moreau.

Narnia:
Likes: I love all the Friends of Narnia, including the non-Pevensies (Polly, Digory, Eustace, and Jill). I love that there are so many things in Narnia are just briefly touched on in the books but could generate a story of their own, e.g. that Stars are a sentient race with very different life spans and responsibilities to humans, Bism, the merpeople near the end of the world, where the Lady of the Green Kirtle came from, Uncle Andrew's box of otherworldly dust. I love Puddleglum (and Marshwiggles in general), and the main characters from The Horse and His Boy. I love the Wood Between the Worlds and its purpose as an in-between place, as well as the effect it has on different people. I love the possibilities for being able to move between worlds.
DNWs: Susan/Caspian.

Hunger Games:
Likes: The main thing I love about the Hunger Games is the world as a whole. I love the potential that the world has, and I often find I like how fanfic deals with it better than how canon dealt with it (e.g. before I read Catching Fire, I was really looking forward to hearing more about the districts during the Victory Tour, but that didn't happen). I love seeing what life is like in other districts. I love the tributes from book 1, and those who died in previous Games. I'm interested in the Victors who we didn't get to see all that much (e.g. Cecelia and Seeder). I love Mags. Also just the Victors in general, the varying degrees of trust/solidarity amongst them, the changes to the dynamic when a new Victor joins the ranks each year. President Snow's granddaughter is really interesting, and I love how the movies are making her more visible. I love the Everdeen family and their relationships with each other. Ship-wise, I'm interested in Katniss/Peeta and Finnick/Annie. Also, as a general rule, I love a straight-up Hunger Games Setting AU.
DNWs: Katniss/Haymitch.

Once Upon a Time:
Likes: (First of all, I'm behind in canon. I haven't seen anything after Season 3, sorry!) I really love Emma. Also love Regina (& her fabulous wardrobe), Ruby, and Snow. I love the fraught parent & child dynamics on this show (e.g. Emma & Henry, Regina & Henry, Emma & Snow/Charming, Regina & Cora). I love Snow and Ruby's friendship. I love the crazy universe that this show has built, the way magic interlaces throughout and the various rules thereof, both the Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke/our world in general as settings, and the various ways people can hop from world to world.
DNWs: Anything after season 3, Emma/Regina, Emma/Hook, Belle/Rumplestiltzkin, Rumplestiltzkin written as a woobie, the "love at first sight" trope.

Crossover prompts:
(Some have more prompts than others, but I promise it's not due to different levels of enthusiasm! I'll be really excited to receive any of these combinations. Also, just to re-iterate, remember that these are only suggestions. They're not demands.)

Request #1: Lost, Harry Potter, White Collar
Lost/Harry Potter:
-- What if, during Voldemort's vaguely-defined "travels", he paid a visit to the Island? What would be his purpose there? What would happen?
-- Does the wizarding world know about the Island? Is its existence general knowledge among witches and wizards, or is it something only Unspeakables know about, or is it somewhere in between?
-- If it's general knowledge, do Hogwarts classes learn about it as part of their curriculum? Do they have to visit?
-- If it's a secret, what if the Oceanic 6 were unknowingly under constant Auror protection, to keep Dark wizards from torturing them for information on the Island?

Lost/White Collar:
-- What if Peter's team was looking into Charles Widmore?
-- What if Mozzie was really into Oceanic 815/Oceanic 6 conspiracy theories?
-- What if a White Collar character had been on Oceanic 815?
-- What if Marsha Thomason's Lost character was actually Diana?
-- What if Sawyer crossed paths with Neal and/or Mozzie while running cons?

Harry Potter/White Collar:
-- What if certain members of the FBI were permitted by the International Statute of Secrecy to be informed of the existence of magic?
-- What if one of the White Collar characters was a muggleborn witch or wizard? (For some reason this particularly appeals to me for Elizabeth, but I'm not fussy.) Who else knows about their powers? Is there a hidden wizarding community in NYC?
-- What if the Mirror of Erised was stolen, and Peter's team was tracking it down?
-- On a similar note, if anyone could steal (or forge!!!) the freaking Mirror of Erised, it would be Neal.

Request #2: Lost, Narnia, Hunger Games
Lost/Narnia:
-- What if, when Lucy hid in the wardrobe, she went to the Island instead of Narnia?
-- What if moving from the regular universe to the sideways!universe requires a stopover in the Wood Between the Worlds?
-- What if Goldwater Island (or another stop in Voyage of the Dawn Treader) was actually part of the Island?

Lost/Hunger Games:
-- By the time Panem rises and the Games system is in place, is Hurley still the Island's protector? Is he aware of what's going on? Does he get desperate refugees washing up onshore?
-- How would Sawyer/Juliet's relationship come about if they were both living miserable lives as Victors/mentors (and maybe also quietly joining the rebellion)?
-- Actually, I'd happily read about a basically any Lost characters as Victors.

Narnia/Hunger Games:
-- Would a surprise trip to Narnia help a desperate kid from Panem?
-- A straight-up Hunger Games setting AU would be particularly interesting (and heartbreaking) for Narnia, with so many characters who are canonically young enough to be reaped.

Request #3: White Collar, Once Upon A Time, Narnia, Hunger Games
White Collar/OUAT:
-- What if Emma and Mozzie crossed paths during their backstory, both growing up in "the system"?
-- What if one of the main White Collar characters was originally from the Enchanted Forest, but hopped worlds (somehow, for some reason) and has built a life for themselves in our world? What's their fairy-tale identity? (Off the top of my head, maybe Neal could be The Gingerbread Man, or El could be the princess from The Princess and the Pea?). (I'm behind on OUAT canon, so I'm not sure who to suggest!)
-- Or, what if Mozzie's biological parents were from the Enchanted Forest? How/why did they leave him in our world? Does he find out, or does he remain ignorant of this?
-- What if Emma crossed paths with someone from White Collar sometime before the events of Season 1 of OUAT?

White Collar/Narnia:
-- What if the magic painting of the Dawn Treader ended up in the possession of a White Collar character? Or, what if it was a valuable and notorious piece of artwork that has been stolen?
-- Same as above, but with the rings from the Magician's Nephew.
-- What if one of the main characters was a former King or Queen of Narnia, living their adulthood for the second time?

White Collar/Hunger Games:
-- What if the White Collar cast were Victors? How did they win their games? How do they cope as Victors/mentors? What roles do they play in the rebellion? What districts are they from?
-- What if Peter's team were undercover in the Gamemaker room during the 75th Games? How did they contribute to breaking open the arena?

OUAT/Narnia:
-- What if, after casting the curse and before arriving in Storybrooke, Regina spent some time in the Wood Between the Worlds?
-- What if someone from the Narnia books was also stuck in Storybrooke?
-- What's the story behind Uncle Andrew's box of dust? How did learn enough magic to discover what it was?

OUAT/Hunger Games:
-- What if Regina's curse sent everyone to Panem instead of Maine? What would the Panem equivalent of Storybrooke be?

Narnia/Hunger Games:
(See Request #2)

Request #4: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, White Collar
Harry Potter/Hunger Games:
-- Does HP-verse magic still exist in Panem? If so, are the Capitol authorities aware of it? Do witches and wizards have their own community, or do they hide in plain sight? What would happen if someone from the Districts was caught using magic?
-- What if the Second Wizarding War was won by Voldemort's side? What if the Capitol/Districts distinction is a result of wizards ruling over muggles and considering them to be subhuman?

Harry Potter/White Collar:
(See Request #1)

Hunger Games/White Collar:
(See Request #3)

I hope there's something helpful in there :)

Good luck, author! Have fun :)
